Description: The managing director, M H T Vane, escorts the King (who is in Field Marshal's uniform, and looks very tired) around the plant. They pass a guard of honour made up of the firm's contingent of the St John Ambulance Brigade. The King talks to workers in the machine shops. Outside he visits the works fire brigade and women doing welding in the motor transport erecting shop. He inspects a line of wounded ex-soldiers, now working for the firm. These include Corporal C A Jarvis VC of the Royal Engineers, the first NCO of the war to win a VC (16th November 1914). The King watches aero-frame and engine construction and talks with a refugee Belgian employee of the firm. A contract-made RAF 3a aeroplane engine, "the latest type of aero engine", is prominent. The King drives away from the works to the cheers of the workers.
King George V is shown around the Napier Motor Works, London, probably mid-1918.
